Richard Manson is the founding partner of Manson Johnson Conner PLLC.  is originally from Dayton, Ohio, but earned his B.A. degree in History from Fisk University and was the recipient of the prestigious Thomas J. Watson Fellow to study abroad. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt University Law School. He is a graduate of executive management programs from Amos Tuck at Dartmouth School of Business; the University of Wisconsin at Madison; and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. His legal career spans over 45 years managing a private law practice that includes multi-business collaborations, and extensive work, nationally and internationally, with media conglomerates representing high-profile clients. Richard Manson’s storied career includes representing Rosa L. Parks, as well as Grammy Award-winning artists.  

 

After a 40-year tenure in the legal arena, he transitioned his skills, expertise, and ideas to broker relationships as the current Founder and President of SourceMark, LLC., which manufactures, sells, and distributes health-related products and services. He is a successful publisher, author, and university professor. Manson is active with numerous professional and community service organizations including the TriState Minority Supplier Development Council (TSMSDC). In addition to his legal and executive career, he serves on a myriad of boards of directors including Citizens Savings Bank and Trust Company, the oldest minority financial institution in the country. He was named chairman of the Citizens Savings Bank and Trust Board in 2018. He also served on the SunTrust Bank Advisory Board. Manson serves as a board member for the Healthcare Supplier Diversity Alliance. He also served as chair of the Nashville General Hospital board (2022-23). He is the current Chairman of the Ethics Committee of United States Track and Field. He is a former board member of the Black Sports and Entertainment Attorneys, Nashville Business Incubation Center; past Chairman of the Board of South Street Community Center; and prior board member of the Society of International Business Fellows.

Over the years, Manson has established himself as a thoughtful leader in the fields of economic development and inclusion with emphasis on innovation, infrastructure, and strategic direction. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer at colleges and universities and professional conferences. He appeared on panels at The Owens and Minor Healthcare Symposium in Richmond, Virginia, and the TSMSDC’s Annual Marketplace in Nashville, Tennessee and Louisville, Kentucky.
